Detective Kit Piper is kidnapped by two men who apparently weren't interested in making sure they had the right target. When the kidnappers make a pit stop for food and a hooker, she seizes her chance to escape. No one is more surprised than Simon Ward when he discovers Kit face-first on the floor, wrapped in a soggy blanket the next morning. On top of that, she's black-and-blue and bruised all over. Kit's starting to think she may have misinterpreted what's going on. On top of that, she's beginning to wonder if maybe she wasn't kidnapped by mistake. Maybe someone wants her dead.
